New Canaan Nature Center - Adventure Camps


The New Canaan Nature Center’s 2008 Summer Nature Camps offer outdoor-oriented programs at their ecologically-diverse 40-acre preserve.  Sessions feature outdoor adventures, natural science investigations, live animal demonstrations and nature-based arts & crafts projects.  Older children enjoy special guests visitors, local field trips and overnight adventures.  

 Nurturing Nature (Ages 2-3 with parent) Tuesday & Thursday or Wednesday & Friday, 9:15am-10:15am or 10:30am-11:30am.  Two week sessions run from June 2 – August 27

Summer Nature Program (Age 3–Grade 4) Each session has a different eco-theme.  Morning session is 9:00 am-noon; Afternoon session is 1:00 pm-4:00 pm; Full session is 9:00 am-3:00 pm (for age 4 and up).  Two week sessions run from June 2 – August 27

 Eco-Rangers (Grades 5-6) Programs run 9 am-4 pm.  Each week includes field trips, special guests and take place mostly outdoors.  Weekly sessions run from June 24 through August 13.

 Adventurers Trips (Grades 5-11) Campers spend 5-6 days and 4-5 nights experiencing great adventures in natural history and outdoor adventure – from horseback riding, rock climbing, sea kayaking to canoeing and more .  All trips include food, travel expenses, activity costs, and sleeping accommodations.  Martha’s Vineyard, June 24-28; Delaware Gap, July 8-12; Maine Madness, July 14-18; Cape Cod, July 27-August 1; Nantucket Island, August 4-8; Adirondack Mountains, August 13-17.

 Registration begins February 25 at www.newcanaannature.org

 Summer Camp Open Houses will be held at the New Canaan Nature Center to provide an opportunity for parents to learn more about the programs, meet staff and ask questions.  Registration is not required.
