The Connecticut Writing Project Summer Institutes

CWP summer programs for Middle and High School students helps them become more confident and creative writers and sharpens their skills. Students also meet published writers and exchange ideas about the writing process. Transportation and partial scholarships available. The Application deadline is May 1, 2008.

Young Writers' Summer Institute For Middle & High School Students is held at Fairfield University. At the 2008 Young Writers' Summer Institute, students can:

* Create exciting new pieces of writing;
* Share work with a community of writers;
* Become more confident writers;
* Listen to guest writers (& learn some tricks of the trade;)
* Publish their writing;

The course is team-taught by exemplary, credentialed teachers who are Connecticut Writing Project teacher/consultants and are committed to providing an exciting, challenging and rewarding learning experience for all participants. This Institute allows participants to explore many aspects of writing and have the opportunity to talk with published writers. The schedule for Middle School and High School students is:
Session I June 30- July 13, 2008. Meets 9 am to 1:30 pm daily;
Session II July 14-25, 2008.  Meets 9 am to 1 pm daily.

Tuition is $700 for each two week session with lunch included. Transportation and partial scholarships are available.

Students must submit an application, a writing sample, and a teacher recommendation. A committee of teacher/consultants selects the students. Deadline for applications is May 1st. The application is available at: http://www.cwpfairfield.org/youngwriters.htm
