Memorial Day weekend in Newport, Rhode Island is the classic time and place to start the American summer experience.  And the 2008 Newport Concours d’Elegance will again be an enjoyable event for connoisseurs of classic automobiles, fashion and art.  Rare collector motorcars, fine dining at an oceanfront mansion, road tours, and wine tasting, will help you kick off the summer season in grand style this year at the third annual 2008 Newport Concours d’Elegance.

And lest you feel too indulgent, the proceeds from the 2008 Newport Concours d’Elegance benefit several charitable causes, including the Boys & Girls Club of Newport, the Newport Restoration Foundation, and the Collectors Foundation. “We’re excited by the attention this third annual event has received,” Mark Hurwitz, the Newport Concours Chairman says.  “Its beauty and pageantry will delight and amaze both the long-time auto collector, and those coming to an event of this nature for the very first time.” The Memorial Day weekend car event is the only Newport antique car Concours for 2008.

Cars from the turn-of-the-century to the present are participating in this rain or shine event. Included will be a 1904 Knox, fresh from the famous London to Brighton run; a rare 1935 Duesenberg, one of only two of this model made; several fifties Vincent Black Shadow motorcycles; a 1961 Corvette, the highest scoring car from the national Corvette meet; a special display of American hot rods, a muscle car category; a one-of-a-kind mid-fifties Jaguar race car; the new 800 horsepower Iconic Motors GTR race car and many others.
Also on hand will be the new Audi R8, a modern sports car for the twenty first century.  Qualified ride and drives will be available.

The Memorial Day Concours d’Elegance, open to the public Monday, May 26th from 10 AM - 4 PM at the upscale oceanfront Belle Mer property, provides inspiring sunsets and magnificent vistas of Jamestown and the Newport Bridge.  Walk along the property’s landscaped crushed white sea-shell pathways and marvel at the luster of automobiles graced by soft ocean breezes.
